Owen’s Leukemia – Day 52

We received a special package today.  It was from England!  A little back story… I started a photography project on 365 project last year.  You take a picture a day and upload it to this website, and you can follow all different photographers from all over the world.  I love this project so much because it really gets me to look at the world a whole new way and appreciate things around me that I might not have noticed prior to starting this project.  It has also provided me with some new friends.  Not that we have ever met, but you start to know these people by the pictures they take and the stories they tell.

When Owen was diagnosed, I posted a few pictures and had a very sweet message from one of my photographer friends, Sean.  He has a son that was born with a heart problem and has had to have 3 surgeries where they saw open his breastbone, stop his heart and work on him.  How scary!  We have emailed back and forth, and he wanted to send Owen something from England because when his son was younger and going through what he was dealing with, someone had done the same thing for him.  So, today we received two adorable bears dressed in true London attire.  One as a policeman, and one with the Beefeater uniform.  He told Owen to pick one and to give one to his brother.  Owen selected the Policeman.  He LOVES it and kept asking questions and talking about England all day.  It was funny because he was watching the Disney channel today, and a commercial came on and they were showing all of the landmarks in London and talking about it, and he held up his bear and said “that’s where he is from!”.  How great is that, my son is learning geography and how compassionate people are.  He kept saying, “that was so nice of him to send us these bears.”   Thank you so much, Sean, you truly made his day!!!
