Owen’s Leukemia – Day 94

Owen was scheduled to get more chemo today, but they postponed it until next Wednesday.  He has been having problems with his oxygen levels, and they didn’t want to sedate him just in case.

He was doing worlds better today… back to making the nurses smile.  The goal for today was to get him off of the morphine and start him taking pain medicine by mouth as well as his other medicines. Before they will let him go home, he has to be able to sleep without oxygen.  He isn’t on it while he is up, but as soon as he sleeps, his levels drop.  We’ll see how tonight goes and they will be making a decision tomorrow.

We spend a lot of time in the play room today.  He had so much fun.  I think we just about played with every single thing in there.  The Child Life Specialist that he really likes, Dana, stopped by to do some medical play today.  She (and I) were surprised to see how much more realistic he plays now verses when he was first diagnosed.  Wow, how much he has grown and experienced in such a short period of time.  Who knows, maybe he will be a nurse or doctor some day…   Hopefully we will get some good news tomorrow!!
