Bring on the heat! It was pretty hot out there today… we spent the morning in the basement and the boys had fun playing in the ball pit.
We did go out for a little while this afternoon, but Logan was ready to go back in.

We got to the hospital nice and early this morning. They drew Owen’s blood, and it was good!! So, all was a go for treatment today. He had a spinal tap, got methotrexate in his spinal fluid, methotrexate through IV and Vincristine through the IV. He did awesome! The rest of the afternoon he has been doing good. The medicine goes in waves it seems. He feels really good and wants to do something one minute, then a few minutes later, wants to lay down.
Glad to hear he was able to get his treatment today! Hope he is feeling well this evening!
That is great news. It was good to see Logan today.
Not much happened today. Daddy was back to work, so the boys missed him being around all day. It was a rainy morning so we spent some time inside.
Tomorrow we head back to the hospital to see if we can start the next phase. Let’s pray for some good numbers so he can get his procedure!
Wow! It has been a super busy week!
Owen was supposed to get treatment last Wednesday. It was to be the start of the next phase. We got to the hospital bright and early since he was having a procedure and wasn’t able to eat or drink anything. They hooked him up to some fluids and took his blood to test it. His ANC ended up only being 550 so they were not able to start the next phase. His ANC needed to be at least 750, basically to be sure his body is strong enough for the next round of treatment. In a way it was kinda a good thing. We had a lot planned for the weekend and we weren’t sure how he was going to feel after getting the treatment. The Doctor’s say that having the low ANC was to be expected coming out of this phase that we were just in. The medicines from that phase really beat your body down. So, we go back this Wednesday to see how his counts are and if he will be ready to start Interim Maintenance.
Friday was his birthday celebration with his cousins. Nanny and Poppy arranged for everyone to go to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds Soccer game! Nanny had also contacted the public relations department and got a special birthday celebration. Owen’s twin cousins birthdays are a week after his so the kids got to go on the field with the players before the game! They walked out with them and were on the field for the anthems and then got to meet the coach. They were all so excited.
All weekend was so much fun and it was great that he had the energy to enjoy every minute of it!!
So, here is the latest video that we have been watching continuously at our house. It is such a catchy song, but it brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. Then, to make the tears worse, Owen has been learning all of the words and sings along with it.
So, if you are in the mood to shed some more tears, grab a box of tissues, search on YouTube for Zach Sobiech. There is a 20 minute video called My Last Days: Meet Zach Sobiech that is just amazing…
Watched the video, catchy tune but you’re right about it making you cry. So glad Owen enjoyed his birthday celebration with his cousins at the soccer game as I’m sure that was exciting being on the field
Today we celebrated Owen’s 4th Birthday!! He had such a perfect day. Playing with Noah and Anna this morning… swimming in the pool this afternoon… and he got…..
A Spiderman costume!!!! Ya, I think he is going to be sleeping in it tonight 😉
He looks great! Glad he had a good day.
He looks incredible. I wouldn’t take that outfit off either, if I were him.
He’s a natural superhero!!
Happy belated birthday Owen. Sorry we missed it, but it certainly looked like you had a great time. We know you will continue to have many more. Love, Joanne&Barry
