Owen's Story bio picture
  • Hello, and thanks for joining me on my journey.

This is Owen. He is a 3 1/2 year old boy who is loving, energetic and loves to have fun. He was diagnosed with Leukemia on November 18, 2012. This is his story.

Owen’s Leukemia – Day 83

What a beautiful day!  The sun was shining, we had our windows cracked to get some of that much needed fresh air circulating… lovely.

The boys had fun this morning painting.  Logan didn’t do too much, but he had fun watching his big brother.

Owen didn’t want to nap this afternoon, so I told him he had to have some quiet time (time that I was not playing with him and not answering 100 questions).  He lined up his cars and said that it was traffic on the way to the beach.  Interesting, we have never experienced this, but he seems to know what it is like.

Great picture of the two boys! Logan is really fascinated by his big brother.

Owen’s Leukemia – Days 80-82

Well, my Mom is doing fine.  A little worn out, but on the mend.

We had a very enjoyable weekend.  Daddy was back home, and the whole house was happy!!

Owen and I had a fun time playing dress up on Friday, and this is him being a Soccer player/King/Pirate/Super Hero.  It’s hard being all those things at once, but he pulls it off quite nicely!

Saturday was kinda a lounge around day.  We bought a new hard drive because we think ours is on the brink of crashing, so all weekend we have been backing stuff up.  Still a little more to go.  So, if my posts are a little sporadic this week, that is why.  Here is Owen on the couch relaxing with his favorite snack of the moment… gummies.

We hope everyone had a great weekend.

Not many kids can really pull off a Soccer player/King/Pirate/Super Hero, but this kid does it well! :)

Owen’s Leukemia – Day 79

Never a dull moment in this house… I woke up this morning and took Logan downstairs to be with my Dad since Owen was still sleeping.  He told me that my Mom got sick through the night with what we all had about two weeks ago.   I immediately started making preparations to take the boys to my in-laws to get them out of the house.  I  am so worried about Owen getting it again especially since his counts were so much lower last week.

I went to check on my Mom and she asked to get taken to the hospital.  She was really dehydrated and kept feeling like she was going to pass out.  She didn’t think she could make it with my Dad taking her, so we called the ambulance.  They arrived promptly, and took her to the hospital that is about 15 minutes from our house.  They gave her fluids, some anti-nausea medicine, kept her for a little while, then released her.  She felt well enough for my Dad to drive her back to their house, and once there, she slept pretty much all day.

The boys had fun at Nanny and Poppy’s place.  We spent the whole day there, and are back home tonight.  I cleaned everything again, and hope I killed all of the yucky germs.  I feel terrible because I keep talking about germs, and I think I making Owen nervous.  He keeps asking about germs, and what will happen.  I just pray that he does not get this….

Jeff gets back super late tonight, and the kids and I can not wait to see him!

Owen’s Leukemia – Day 78

Today I got a much needed lunch out of the house with my Mom and Mother-in-law.  It was sooo nice to be out, and just enjoy a meal.  The boys enjoyed their time as well.  Owen stayed home with Pap Pap and played in the basement, and Logan went with Poppy.

The boys both love attention, and as you can see here, Nana had her hands full.

We had a wonderful meal provided for dinner tonight and they brought it in a box.  Well, the box was well received by both Owen and Logan.  It provided for hours of entertainment.

Lovely photo. You look a lot like your Mom!

Owen’s Leukemia – Day 77

Had a very energetic day today.  My parents came down yesterday to stay for a few days while Jeff is out of town, and they are shocked how Owen does.not.stop.  Not much of an appetite, but he sure does have his energy.

Nana and Owen made a Valentine’s hat that he was pretty proud to show off.
